Our BSc (Hons) Health, Wellbeing and Social Care with Foundation Year course delivers a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare sector, helping you develop the skills and experiences needed to be impactful following your graduation. 

The learning structure during the Foundation Year has been designed to develop your academic skills while uncovering essential topics relating to health and social care. What you learn during this year will provide a fundamental understanding of the sector and support your progression into the following years of the course.

The following three years of the course will progressively build in levels of intensity, exploring key topics including behavioural influences in healthcare provision and how to deliver effective management across the sector. The quality of course materials will be matched by our experienced lecturers — giving you a wealth of experience and invaluable perspectives throughout the course.

BSc (Hons) Health, Wellbeing and Social Care with Foundation is offered by Oxford Brookes University in partnership with GBS. Students can choose from flexible class schedules such as Weekday, Weekend, Evening, allowing them to balance education with other commitments. The programme is offered in Full Time study modes, ensuring accessibility for learners. It supports various academic pathways, including Bachelors levels, making it suitable for a wide range of students seeking professional or academic advancement. English Language Requirement

Proof of English language proficiency is required if English is not the applicant’s first language. Proficiency can be demonstrated through:

· Previously studied qualifications in English:

· GCSE English Language (minimum grade C/4) or equivalent, completed within the last 5 years.

· Other qualifications taught in English, as determined by GBS.

· Accepted tests (valid for 2 years):

· CEFR Level B2 or equivalent:

· Undergraduate: Equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall (no less than 5.5 in each element).

· Other tests: TOEFL, Pearson PTE, or GBS internal English assessment.


Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Courses

Foundation Year Entry

Standard Entry:

  • Level 3 qualification (equivalent to 60 credits or 80 UCAS tariff points).
  • Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above or equivalent.
  • Equivalency of foreign qualifications confirmed by GBS admissions.

Non-Standard Entry:

  • Mature students (21+): Minimum of 12 months of full-time appropriate professional work experience, supported by references.

Assessed via:

  • Interview (listening and speaking skills)
  • Numeracy test
  • Written personal reflection statement

Additional Notes:

Applicants missing part of standard entry may qualify with relevant experience, assessed case-by-case.
