Course Overview
CertHE in Public Health with Foundation offers a strong foundation in health and social care knowledge and skills. This exciting new programme supports students to develop essential skills, explore contemporary health issues and understand the social factors that influence well-being.
Students will develop key academic skills, such as critical thinking and research. They will form communication strategies in healthcare settings and understand the impact of lifestyle and environment on health.
Students will learn about collaborative working in inter-professional teams and explore sociological perspectives on health and well-being.
This programme is ideal for those aspiring to work in health and social care or individuals currently in the field seeking to enhance their knowledge and qualifications. Students will learn from highly experienced expert faculty teachers in a supportive learning environment.
After completing this course, successful students can progress to one of our BSc (Hons) degree programmes in Public Health.
The principal aims of the Certificate in Higher Education with Foundation are to:
- Introduce students to the range of career opportunities available within Public Health, Allied Health, Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, fostering students awareness of health and social care systems, structures, and specialities.
- Recognise the interrelated nature of subjects across health and social care studies and to provide a foundation upon which knowledge and understanding can be built in preparation for future learning and employment.
CertHE Public Health with Foundation is offered by Canterbury Christ Church University in partnership with LSC. Students can choose from flexible class schedules such as Weekday, Evening, allowing them to balance education with other commitments. The programme is offered in Full Time study modes, ensuring accessibility for learners. It supports various academic pathways, including CertHE levels, making it suitable for a wide range of students seeking professional or academic advancement. OPT Exemptions
You may be exempt from taking the LSC Online Proficiency Test if you meet one of the following criteria:
- Functional Skills Level 2 in English Language
- GCSE English Language with a minimum grade of 4 (or grade ‘C’ equivalent)
- IELTS (Academic or General) with an overall score of 5.0 or higher
Proof of ID Requirements
To apply, you must provide valid proof of identification. The following are accepted:
- A valid passport
OR
- A driving licence together with a birth certificate or travel document

Recent Proof of Address Requirements
Please provide one of the following as proof of address. Documents must be full-page, clearly legible, and issued within the last 30 days prior to your interview date:
- A recent utility bill or council tax bill
(Mobile phone bills are not accepted)
- A bank statement showing recent transactions
(All four corners visible, full page required)
- A valid UK driving licence with your current address
