  • Further your knowledge of complexities within healthcare institutions and the sector
  • Develop your passion for helping others

Upon successful completion of the course a student will be able to:

  • Critically analyse and evaluate healthcare systems; by exploring how health and social care providers and organisations are managed, regulated, integrated and their ability (severally and collectively) to meet the health and social care needs of the populations they serve.
  • Investigate the diverse range of health and social care work and the different roles and responsibilities of professionals operating within the sector.
  • Examine the biological, psychological and sociological factors of human development, to critically analyse and evaluate their influence upon the health and wellbeing of individuals throughout the lifespan.

Many health and social care graduates work in roles across education, health, public services, and the charity sector. There are a variety of opportunities across the NHS, local authorities and social services, charities, not-for-profits and community organisations, as well as schools, colleges, early years organisations or adult education settings. Health and Social Care graduates may decide to progress onto further study at postgraduate level, as many health-related careers, including social work, nursing, occupational therapy, counselling, and speech and language therapy, need further training for specialism.
