Academic Interview

Once we have submitted your application for the course of your choice, a member of CECOS admissions staff will check it to make sure it has been fully completed and that you are eligible to enrol in the course.

In the event that your application meets the entry criteria, you will receive an invitation to a web interview with a member of CECOS' academic team. These academic interviews typically last around 30 minutes and are used to evaluate the following:

  • Your educational and/or professional history
  • Your knowledge of and readiness for the course
  • Your knowledge of the topic, the industry, and the relevant careers

They conduct interviews with every applicant who satisfies their entry requirements as part of their quality process.

If you are applying through the Standard Entry route (Academic Achievement), the interviewer will want to ask you about your educational background and how the course will help you further your professional or career progression.

English Language Requirements
  • You must pass CECOS' English language screening test if you lack certification that shows you have the necessary level of English ability.
  • You will be evaluated under supervision on your reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities.
  • You might need to take pre-sessional lessons and take a final English exam in order to enrol in chosen course.
  • You will be excluded from this step if you have a recognised English qualification.
  • It takes about 90 minutes to finish the basic English evaluation.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Year:

All students apply through UCAS. Students will ideally require 48 UCAS points to access the programme.

Those with significant work and life experience of a complexity that demonstrates an aptitude to study at degree level, but with no formal qualifications, will also be favourably considered. Different degree pathway options available at the end of the foundation year may have different additional entry requirements.

Level 4:

Minimum 112 UCAS points including a minimum of CC at A level or equivalent (e.g.MM at BTEC Diploma; MPP at BTEC Extended Diploma) towards the total tariff.

Access students can achieve the requirements with the following combination of Distinction, Merit and/ or Pass grades at level 3 achieved from a completed Access course.

The university accepts appropriate T Levels as part of the usual entry requirements.

A foundation degree (level 3) in Business or Accounting and Finance can also be considered to progress to L4 if the academic results from Level 3 demonstrates applicant’s academic excellence, and a foundation degree in subjects that are not directly in the areas of Business, Accounting and Finance can also be considered to progress to L4, if the academic results from Level 3 demonstrates applicant’s academic excellence (such applicants will be required to pass a pre-admission interview with the programme lead in attendance).

Mature applicants with relevant professional qualifications and working experience are considered for entry to the course via assessment by interview to determine their suitability to cope with the demands of the course; such applicants will be required to pass the pre-admission interview with the programme lead in attendance.

Top-Up:

All applicants will need to have 120 credits at level 4 and 120 credits at level 5 in a relevant Foundation Degree or HND.
