English Language Requirements
Accepted Grades
In order to pass the ELPT you must achieve the following result:
BSc (Hons) / 3-year course
55 in each individual component and 60 overall.
BSc (Hons) with Foundation Year / 4-year course
55 in each individual component and 55 overall.
Postgraduate (MSc/MBAs)
60 in each individual component and 65 overall.

Home Students Undergraduate:
- Password / IELTS: 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all components)
- Duolingo: 100 (with a minimum of 90 in all components)
- ETS TOEFL iBT with 80 overall and a minimum of 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking.
- Pearson PTE: 60 (with a minimum of 59 in all components)
- LanguageCert Academic: 65 (with a minimum of 60 in all components)
- LanguageCert International ESOL: High Pass (with a minimum of 33 in all components)
- Oxford ELLT Global: 6 (with a minimum of 5 in all components)
Home Students Postgraduate:
- Password / IELTS: 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all components)
- Duolingo: 110 (with a minimum of 90 in all components)

Entry Requirements
Undergraduate Courses
Standard Entry:
- Minimum of 2 GCE A-Levels and 3 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths).
- UCAS Tariff points are required, with specific point requirements varying by course.
- Accepted qualifications for UCAS Tariff points include:
- GCE A-Levels
- AS-Levels (in different subjects from A-Levels, with limited points)
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas
- Irish Leaving Certificate
- Scottish Highers
Non-Standard Entry:
- Mature applicants without formal qualifications can apply with relevant work experience, assessed via a personal statement and references.
Postgraduate Courses
Standard Entry:
- A UK honours degree with lower second class honours (2:2) or equivalent.
- Some courses may have specific subject prerequisites or require relevant work experience.
Non-Standard Entry:
- Mature applicants with extensive relevant professional experience may be considered, subject to course-specific requirements.

Interview Process
For select courses—particularly in professional or creative fields such as Writing, Computing, or those requiring a Speaking Test—an interview may form part of the admissions process.
What to Expect
Invitation to Interview
If an interview is required, you will receive an email with full instructions.
Interview Format
Interviews may be conducted either online via Microsoft Teams or in person on campus, depending on the course. Full details will be provided in your invitation.
Written Task (if applicable)
Some applicants may be asked to complete a short 15-minute written statement on the day, designed to assess your communication skills and personal motivation related to your course of interest.
Computing Task (if applicable)
For Computing applicants, a practical computer-based task may be required. You will be provided with a laptop containing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, along with the task and relevant materials on the desktop. You’ll be asked to complete the task independently, demonstrating your basic digital literacy and familiarity with essential software.
Preparation Requirements
Depending on the course, you may need to complete a pre-interview task or bring specific documents such as a photo ID or a portfolio.
During the Interview
The interview is your opportunity to showcase your knowledge, values, and motivation for the course, while also asking any questions about your future academic experience.

ARU offers a range of flexible study schedules to accommodate different lifestyles and commitments. Please review the delivery formats below to determine which option best suits your needs.
Full-Time Study Options
1. Standard Delivery (Daytime Classes)
- Attendance: 2 days per week
- Days: Any two weekdays (Monday to Friday)
- Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Perfect for students available during regular daytime hours.
2. Non-Standard Delivery (Evenings & Weekend)
- Attendance: 3 sessions per week
- Schedule:
- Tuesday evening: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Thursday evening: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Designed for those who prefer to study outside traditional working hours.
Part-Time Study Options
1. Standard Delivery (Daytime Classes)
- Attendance: 1 day per week
- Days: Any weekday (Monday to Friday)
- Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- A great option for students balancing study with work or personal commitments.
2. Non-Standard Delivery (Evenings & Weekend)
Important Note: This delivery format is available only for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) – Health and Social Care course.
- Attendance: 1–2 sessions per week, on a rotating schedule
- Trimester Breakdown:
- Trimesters 1 / 3 / 5: Tuesday & Thursday evenings (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
- Trimesters 2 / 4 / 6: Saturday daytime (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- This rotating structure allows greater flexibility and is tailored specifically for MBA – Health and Social Care students studying part-time.
