English Language Requirements

To ensure academic success, all applicants must meet the University of Roehampton’s English language entry criteria. We offer a flexible and supportive approach to help you meet these requirements.

Spotlight English Test

All four skills are assessed: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking

  • Free of charge and taken on-campus
  • Unlimited free retakes
  • Remote testing may be permitted for students outside London, in exceptional cases only
Exemptions

You may be exempt from the test if you hold one of the following qualifications (awarded within the last 5 years):

  • GCSE English – Grade 4 or above
  • Functional Skills Level 2
  • Recognised English scores from your home country qualifications, such as:
  1. Ukrainian Atestat – English Grade 6 or higher
  2. Italian Maturità – English Grade 7 or higher
  3. Polish Matura – 60% or higher in Basic English

Flexible Blended Learning Timetable

The University of Roehampton offers a blended learning format designed to support students who require flexibility without compromising academic quality. This delivery model is ideal for those balancing work, family, or other commitments.

Timetable

  • Mondays: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Online)
  • 2 Tuesdays per month: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (On-campus)
  • 2 Saturdays per month: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (On-campus)

This hybrid timetable enables students to benefit from both the flexibility of online study and the richness of face-to-face academic engagement.

Who’s Eligible?

The University of Roehampton welcomes applications from students who are eligible for Student Finance England and do not require a visa to study in the UK. This includes:

  • British passport holders
  • Individuals with Pre-Settled or Settled Status under the EU Settlement Scheme
  • Holders of Ukraine Scheme Visas (e.g. Homes for Ukraine, Ukraine Family Scheme)
  • Refugee Status Holders

If you fall under any of the above categories, you may be eligible to study a fully funded degree through Student Finance. Our admissions team will support you through the eligibility check and application process.
